CJUS 101 Introduction to Criminal Justice
Professor Rich-Shea
The memo for criminal justice will not only provide information on the legal case being studied; it will also provide an analysis of the legal processes of the case. The purpose of memos is to give the audience information about a situation (in this memo, a legal case). The following must be included:
- Details of the legal processes in the case; hearings, appeals, etc.
- Analysis of the case
Summaries of a case should be kept brief. Please be sure to outline the legal processes mentioned in the text. Also, try to avoid subjective evaluations of the legal processes such as, “it was unfair,” or, “I hated that.”
The format of the memo should be as follows:
- One page typed
- 3 paragraphs only
- Please use Microsoft Word
- Use Times New Roman, 12 point font with standard 1 inch margins
- 5 line spacing
- Remember to spell check
