Instructions
For this assignment, I want you to read a short excerpt from a book called Mutants: On Genetic Variety and the Human Body by Armand Marie LeRoi. Here is the excerpt.
This excerpt is Chapter 7 (The Desire and Pursuit of the Whole), and I've included the entire chapter. It's not long (plus, the book is printed double-spaced and with large illustrations that take up lots of space). The part of the excerpt that I care the most about begins on p. 230 (Fifty-Fifty) and finishes on p. 242 (right above The Object of Desire). That's the section that the questions below come from.
I'm including the entire chapter because I think many of you will enjoy the whole thing. It's a very fast read and it covers things like sexy scandalous stuff, hermaphrodites, weird sexual phenotypes, etc. that students love to hear about.
