This week's topic is DNA technology, and we will talk about the science and controversy of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). In preparation for this week, I want you to do some very basic exploration of how we manipulate DNA for different medical and commercial applications.

This website will take you on a tour of the history of DNA technology. This website is designed as lots of little modules that you can click in and out of. It has three main sections: Revolution, Techniques, and Production. Each of these sections is subdivided into short little areas listed across the top of the window. Many of these have short animations or interviews with relevant scientists. There's also a Glossary link at the bottom of each page.

Rather than require you to drill through all of the pages and sub-pages, I'm sending you on a scavenger hunt to get some information that we'll be using in class on Tuesday. All of this information can be found on this site, but you may prefer to use other resources (other biology textbooks, YouTube, other reputable websites) at your disposal. As long as you can answer the questions below, you're all set. (If you have no idea where you'd begin, stick with the website I've provided.)

Only registered, enrolled users can take graded quizzes
